Using Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®
BIOS Firmware
Software upgrades to the CPU Basic Input/Output Subsystem
(BIOS) firmware for the Stratus ftServer family of computer
systems using Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL). Contact Stratus Customer Services or your support
provider for assistance installing this firmware.

This CPU BIOS is not mandatory for ftServer 2600,
4500, and 6300 systems operating Windows. However ftServer System Software
7.0.4.4 and 7.1.5.x and above will require updating to CPU
BIOS 5.0.17 or above prior to upgrading.

It is not mandatory to update CPU BIOS firmware to
4.1.82 on ftServer 2600, 4500, and 6300 operating
ftServer system software release 7.0.x.x for Linux®. The
fix in
4.1.82 is required for VMware® ESX only.
However ftServer System Software7.0.5.x will
require updating to CPU BIOS 4.1.82 prior to upgrading.
