Using Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®
BIOS Firmware
Software upgrades to the CPU Basic Input/Output Subsystem
(BIOS) firmware for the Stratus ftServer family of computer
systems using Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL). Contact Stratus Customer Services or your support
provider for assistance installing this firmware.

was released for ftServer 2500, 4400, and 6200 operating
ftServer system software release 5.0 and above and 5.1
and for Linux®. However, it is NOT required, due to no
bugs being fixed beyond the support of VMware® ESX 2.0
and above.
CPU BIOS 2.2.60 was qualified to
operate with ftServer system software release 5.0 and
above and 5.1 and for Linux®.

This CPU BIOS is mandatory ONLY for ftServer 2500, 4400 or 6200
systems containing G-Step processors. (spot00116504).
It is not mandatory to update CPU BIOS firmware to 2.2.58 on
ftServer 2500, 4400 or 6200 systems. However, it is recommended
that the CPU BIOS firmware be updated to 2.2.58 when upgrading
to ftServer system software (ftSSS) 5.0.1.3 and above for Red
Hat® Enterprise Linux® in order to acquire bug fixes.
